Community Information

Fields Corner shops and library. Hemenway Park. MBTA: Fields Corner, Shawmut stations. Dorchester Art Project. Shopping center, town field, Ronan park, T station, boys & girls club, family & youth center, restaurants, bars.

Appreciation of the Vietnamese community, the ethnic diversity, the local businesses. Huge Vietnamese population, area now called Little Saigon, there are also many Cape Verdeans, Haitians & some Latinx too.

Lack of tree cover. Auto emissions from 93. We live in a heat island, the lack of trees is astounding & makes it extremely difficult to get relief from the heat & humidity, certain streets have no trees at all. We are in a climate emergency & not enough is being done to address it. Also the garbage & lack of composting creates lots of rats & mice in the neighborhood, folks leave scraps of food out everywhere thinking to help the animals but it doesn't.

Politicians should know that people want to be able to stay in Dorchester. We need more housing at all price points. So there is a big divide between those on the 'hill's vs those us who aren't. And the places w/ money are Popes Hill, Jones Hill, Ashmont Hill, Codman Hill, Neponset Hill, Savin Hill have all the best everything. The amount of new housing being built is not for us, we can't afford these bright, shiny, new apt/condos. They have to consider where the people who live in apt building or triple deckers are not making six figure salaries & can't manage moving when rents get jacked up either. Housing is a human right.
