My community is primarily diverse and blue collar. Not many locally owned businesses or opportunities. Mostly corporate. Affordable but currently being gentrified by young white people like myself.
My community salsa dances and gathers at the Cultural Heritage Center for events. A wide variety of religious backgrounds. Not many public parks or libraries or services like we see in Sugarhouse.
The majority of my community seems to be factory or warehouse workers. Many have trucks and own landscaping companies. They leave early morning and come home 13 hours later. Many people live in one home.
We need More locally owned businesses and spaces for boutiques and book stores and cafes. Not McDonald’s and Starbucks.
