Community Information

mental health elderly Latinx affordable

My community is made up of people who go to new life covenant church, rely on children's association for schooling, and depend highly on VIDA SIDA and CALOR for medical testing.

My community is a majority Latinx community (Puerto Rican, Mexican, and Guatemalans) but also with a large African American population as well. Majority of the community is Catholic or Christian. The languages most spoken are english and spanish. There are a lot of elders and young folks in my community. Paseo Boricua is a historic part of my neighborhood.

My community is by a manmade pond and beach. We have high amounts of lead in our water due to water pollution. There is a unemployment problem in my community. We also struggle from high amounts of food insecurity.

My community needs access to healthcare and mental health services. Many veterans live in the community and sadly they are houseless and struggle from mental health issues. People are sick and can't receive care because of lack of insurance. We struggle from food insecurity so more food banks would help immensely.
