Community Information

transportation housing voting rights education environment

My community gathers in public spaces: parks, recreation areas, reserves. We hike trails, paddle in lakes, and fish in rivers. You will find us in the library and at the University of Utah—or Salt Lake Community College. We ride the bus to work and school. We support Wasatch Community Gardens.

Many different religious groups live in this area—including atheists and agnostics. A large number of us have moved here from out of state or out of country for schooling, work, or access to the state's mountains and deserts.

My community is located between the University of Utah and the city center. We work in eduction, health services, the arts and hospitality. There are many professionals here. Students live here. We have a large homeless population.

The Avenues, where I live, has a community organization that meets monthly. Even though the Avenues is a single, distinct community, we are not all included under the same district under the current districting.
