Rural transportation is an ongoing problem. There is a lack of healthcare providers, resulting in long wait times & likely substandard care.
My community seems hung up on hopefully someday attracting more big businesses, rather than supporting existing businesses and entrepreneurs. There is a shortage of affordable housing- both family rentals and homes for first-time homebuyers, mainly because of renting to students and the rise of Air BnB & other short-term rentals (especially for renting to baseball camp families). There is very little support for first-time homebuyers. Lack of universal broadband access is still a problem, though great strides have been made.
My community (especially neighboring Delaware County where I work) has tension between "locals" and folks recently moved upstate from NYC. We have an "angry white man" problem. We also suffer from lack of diversity in leadership, and a pool from which to find more diverse leaders.
