Our community, including the Associations of Marion Estates, Heritage Hills, Rancho Marizona and Short Hills, is described as "A quiet mid-century neighborhood in the middle of it all." Established over 60 years ago, we are nestled between Camelback Mountain and the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Our families are uniquely situated to take advantage of hiking the mountains and also walking to our neighborhood restaurants including Vincent's, North, and Chelsea's Kitchen. We drink coffee at LGO and ride the canal to The Biltmore. Our kids go to school in Phoenix (Hopi, Ingleside, Arcadia) or at the adjacent Phoenix Country Day School. We work out at The Village and shop at AJs.
Our prized neighborhood guards against indiscriminate development that does not focus on preserving the qualities that make this area that make it special. 2-story homes can threaten our mountain views and commercial development should remain family and service-oriented.
We are surprised that our urban, Phoenix neighborhoods have been added to a legislative district that includes the neighboring town of Scottsdale as well as exurbs of Fountain Hills, Cave Creek, and beyond into Tonto National Forest. We are focused on the city of Phoenix issues. Our geographic economic interests do not extend to tourism, casinos, or large-scale housing developments.
We would like our community to stay within a Phoenix legislative district, as it has been for the past 20 years. We would best be represented by someone who, like us, chose to live in the 4th largest city in the country, in an established neighborhood that is identified by our Phoenix mountains.
