Community Information

transportation LGBT+ housing affordable

My community is built along the MARTA rail line and united by the common ground of Piedmont Park, with members frequenting restaurants and museums dotted throughout the neighborhood.

From the police raid on Ansley Mall that spurred the creation of the Georgia Gay Liberation Front to the annual Atlanta Pride festival, Midtown has been a safe haven for Queer individuals seeking a life where they can live their most authentic selves.

Midtown is an economic engine with skyscrapers dotting the MARTA line that runs like a spine through the neighborhood. In addition to office workers, Piedmont Park serves as an entertainment venue hosting festivals from Music Midtown to the Atlanta Jazz Festival, bringing in millions of visitors per year.

While many in Midtown live comfortably, unhoused residents suffer from negligence by the community at large. Structural action must be taken to provide affordable housing and support to these people. In addition, With such heavy traffic, Midtown is in desperate need of complete streets that prioritize bike and pedestrian transportation.
