Community Information

A new location of the Bosniak Society of Boston has been established in the Beachmont area to allow for religious gatherings. The Beachmont and Seacoast School building is home to Frederick’s Park, which consists of a playground, baseball field, and courts. Aside from this park, the Louis Pasteur playground, Crescent Ave Mini Park, Winthrop Ave basketball court and Short Beach offer spaces for recreation for children and families across the neighborhood.

Our neighborhood is an intergenerational, multicultural, working class immigrant community. The population size of the neighborhood has increased due to the new development at 1 Beachmont. Along with 1 Beachmont, the redevelopment of Suffolk Downs will shift the neighborhood demographic. This neighborhood has a high North African and Latinx population.

The Beachmont neighborhood is united by the Beachmont train station, which residents use to commute to jobs in Boston. Around this station, many restaurants, bakeries, and stores introduce residents to the foods of the cultures present in Beachmont. There are barber shops, laundromats, and dry cleaning locations. Additionally, the Shops at Suffolk Downs provide more options for residents to eat and purchase groceries.

The Beachmont Improvement Committee is a neighborhood group that consists mostly of older retired residents who want to beautify and build an inclusive community. They host an annual Multicultural Festival to celebrate the diverse cultures and small businesses in their commercial corridor. The Committee needs a separate space for meetings since it meets at the police station, which lacks accessibility.
