Community Information

Our community is made up of Asian Americans in Albany Park. Many of our community members are immigrants or refugees. The Cambodian Association of Illinois, National Cambodian Heritage Museum and Killing Fields Memorial, HANA Center, and Alliance of Filipinos for Immigrant Rights and Empowerment (AFIRE) are all located in Albany Park. There are also many Asian American-serving organizations in neighboring areas, such as Andersonville and Uptown.

Our community is very working class and is concerned about gentrification and decreasing affordability. Living near public transit is important (Brown Line). There are local educational institutions (North Park University and NEIU) that are important community anchors.

We would like Albany Park to be in one city ward rather than split across multiple wards as is currently the case.
