Community Information

healthcare diversity homelessness crime education

My community is made up of several parks, schools, libraries, churches, and large cemeteries that are meant to gather all types of people. Many younger students, children, and families gather and socialize in many of these areas especially the parks and shopping areas around my community.

My community is made up of many Hispanic groups throughout Woodside, Sunnyside, Astoria, Corona, and Rego Park. There are other distinct groups around the neighborhoods too but Hispanics play a large part in the businesses and groups. There are also several religious communities and churches on most blocks.

The health care, professional services, finance, retail, and educational services industries are rampant in my community of interest which also shows that they may have similar policy and job interests.

Some of these main issues involve illegal parking, water maintenance, abandoned vehicles, blocked driveways, and encampment/homelessness concerns. Three out of the five 311 reports involve cars or vehicles to a certain extent. Politicians should also be aware of the rising crime rates, especially in Queens.
