My community is primarily comprised of residents within unincorporated Henry County. Piedmont Henry is the regional medical center for our area. There is significant traffic congestion and no public transportation.
There has been a significant increase in minority residents within my community.
My community is located near I-75 and the corridor is instrumental in Georgia’s economy. It serves as the primary transport for goods from the Port of Savannah to rest of the state. Consequently, we are impacted by commercial vehicles and the resulting air pollution. More than 70% of Henry residents work outside of the county and once again traffic congestion is a concern. Employment opportunities are limited to transportation and logistics (warehousing).
My community is split into two State representative districts, and it would be helpful it was united. My subdivision is located immediately across the street from another district. Our needs and concerns are not similar to those located further south but to the community directly adjacent to it. A diversified tax base, new professional employment opportunities, and public transit could positively impact my community. Investment into high speed rail connecting Henry County and Middle Georgia would improve the local economies for the Southern Crescent and Middle Georgia.
