My community is right on the Belt Line, and over the past couple of years, Reynoldstown has seen an intense influx of resources and development. Even just on Memorial Drive, there are at least 5 different nearly brand new apartment complexes, and most rent is over $1500 for a one bedroom. Reynoldstown is also right on I-20 so it's very conveniently located, and right off the exit there is shopping center with a Publix, nail salon, AMC theater, and another apartment building. Since a lot of the development happened very quickly, there has been some concern that some of the buildings are not built to last because construction happened so fast to meet the rising demand.

With all of the recent attention on Reynoldstown, the neighborhood is seeing an inpouring of new residents. The community is unrecognizable to those who have lived in it for decades. And thus, many residents are likely concerned with the consequences of this quick gentrification. It is likely that all of the luxury apartment buildings built in the area have contributed to higher rents and housing costs across the board, and higher costs for housing could be pricing certain residents out. Many of those who work in the shopping center and elsewhere in Reynoldstown do not live nearby, often because they have been priced out of the area.

Reynoldstown also does not have a MARTA train station, and with many workers living outside the area, access to reliable transportation is key. In addition, I think having community input before granting developers free rein to build apartment complex after apartment complex would help combat the rising housing costs in Reynoldstown and throughout the city.
