Use these questions to think more about how you would describe your community...
  - Where do people in your community gather or socialize?
  - How and where does your community access services (healthcare, transportation, educational services, etc.)?

Examples of activities and services: Shopping areas, schools and universities, libraries, parks, lakes, rivers, places of worship, healthcare services, public transport, local nonprofit organizations, etc.

Your response: Closing of full service grocery stores over last 15 years, or so. Neighborhood: multi-family housing along with single family. Transportation: more walking than in many areas of town; lots of bikes and cars; bus riders -- recently disrupted b/c of street construction. Getting to bus may involve going through construction. Parking lot BCBS might be used for a grocery store location. Parking lot sees limited use now. N border of community is 6th; East is Topeka Blvd; S is 17th St.; W is Watson Ave.

  - What are the cultural bonds in your community?
  - If your community has a shared history, what is it?

Examples of cultural or historical interests: Religious groups, ethnic groups, languages, age groups, immigration status, historic or arts districts, etc.

Your response: Amenities: Holiday Park; Central Park, Topeka HS, Robinson Middle school.

Use these questions to think more about how you would describe your community...
  - Where are residents employed?
  - If there are environmental concerns in your community, what are they?

Examples of economic or environmental interests: Tourism industry, agricultural workers, mining town, manufacturing center, polluted natural resource, unemployment problem, etc.

Your response: Community needs a full service grocery store. Walgreen's, Dollar Store, Family Dollar, and restaurants don't fill the gap.

  - What should politicians and/or map drawers know about your community?
  - What are the needs of your community?
  - Is there anything else you want to tell us about your community?

Examples of needs or concerns: Keep community in the same district or separate into multiple districts, shared policy concerns, need for a social service, relationship to other nearby communities, issues with current district lines

Your response: Limited food options: Walgreen's, restaurants, Dollar General w/some limited food selection, Family Dollar store also limited grocery. Small Tilton's grocery. Dillon's at 10th and Gage may be most accessible option but is very far away. Walmart at 6th and MacVicar also an option, but very far away. Limited hours of operation of buses make trips to get groceries prohibitively time consuming.
