My community is the area around North Carolina Central University. Much like the university it surrounds, The community is historically Black and POC. There are economic disparities present within the community that have resulted in a myriad of issues for long-time residents and their families as well as new residents and students. The area is beginning to experience gentrification, along with crime, and poverty.
