Community Information

My community is made of families whose children attend G. Frank Davidson elementary, St. Augustine Church, and Trevor G. Browne High school. The church provides childcare and community events in the summer. My community uses El Oso Park

The large part of my community is Latinx and many families are mixed-status or undocumented some are black or African American families as well and a minority are white. For many Spanish is their first language and/or they’re bilingual.

Residents are employed in industries like construction and retail. A great concern for my community are te rising temperatures especially during the summer and the accompanying rising electric bills.

My community is concerned for how they will sustain themselves as the local economy recuperates from covid this past year. Many families’ main providers were laid off or lost their job and grocery store prices around us rose significantly which has made life hard. Immigration and the heightened police presence has always been of concern as well because many are undocumented.
