Community Information

People in the community tend to frequent restaurants and bars to socialize. This question is really interesting, because in terms of my immediate community I think of all the residents in the building. They tend to socialize in the lobby and take walks around the area. For the broader community, there are a lot of people who commute to work here but live elsewhere. Central Park is within walking distance, so quite a few people take their dogs or bike around during the weekend.

For my immediate community, most of the residents want to make the building a better place to live. Many of the common values tend to address what they think could improve in order to reach this shared goal. Additionally, the area is close to major streets (Lexington and Park Ave, FDR Dr) so air quality is an additional factor. The East River is situated nearby and flood-prevention plans have been implemented to address this - though the design has been criticized for being insufficient.

The community cares about the constant construction, which is normalized as a part of New York City. However, Midtown East was recently rezoned to allow for increased floor area of blocks. Combined with a strong market for real estate in the area, investors will most likely renovate or redevelop certain buildings - not to mention existing unused air rights. While I do not have a particular stance on this issue, I find it really interesting since COVID-19 has changed working conditions.
