Community Information

religion Judaism

My community consists of the Sephardic Jewish community in the New York and New Jersey area. Even though it is very spread out, it is very close knit; Everyone knows everyone, one way or another. During the summer almost everyone moves to Long Branch, New Jersey, and throughout the year celebrations like weddings are where a lot of catching up happens.

My community has been largely present since the early 1900's when large portions of Jewish people immigrated out of Middle Eastern countries.

My community is mainly in Brooklyn, New York and Deal, New Jersey, where people have jobs in a variety of different paths. There are entrepreneurs, lawyers, real estate agents, interior designers, and many many more.

Since I went to high school in Brooklyn, that part of the community is what I more closely connect to. I think politicians need to better understand and help the fact of the very real issue of Anti-Semitism that still is present in those areas.
