Community Information

My community of interest is Virginia City and Gold Hill. Every so often, sinkholes threaten buildings and people's lives in the Virginia City area. In the past, the area's main industry was mining, so today, countless abandoned mines lie underground, many of which are unmapped. The mines in the area are highly deadly through the poisonous gases that rest inside and the deep shafts and tunnels that lie below the surface.

Unchecked mines could collapse and cause a sinkhole to form, dragging in everything around its perimeter including buildings, roads, and possibly animals or people. Mines in this community have become sinkholes in the past and have even recurred in the same location, further precautions should be taken into consideration to prevent future damage to the historic area and its residents.
