The community get services like groceries mostly outside of the community. The only food resources are corner stores and a few food marts.
There is a true sense of community where the area is one big family that depends on each other. The area is predominately Black,but there are other nationalities that include the Latino, Whites and the Hmongs. There are a lot of religious groups and a few art centers in the 48342 zip code. The downtown is a business oasis. United Shores is in the heart of 48342 community and Amazon is building on the old Pontiac Silverdome site.
The people living in my community are primarily black or African American. The number of people in their late 20s to early 40s s extremely large while the number of young adults is large. There are also an extremely large number of single parents and an extremely small number of families. Our zip code is part of Oakland County and the community borders Auburn Hills. There are concerns about the water quality within the city.
Our community cares about having a community recreation center for all ages, activities for the youth, a real grocery store for our residents, and a movie theater and a water park.
