My community of interest includes services such as two public libraries that can be easily access by members of the community. There is also several place of worship in the community that serves various religions and offer several food pantries throughout the month. The community also has P.S. 127 Aerospace Science Magnet School that ranges from grades Pk-SE. There is also a park where families come together one day during the summer to have an event (family day). The community has a trade fair supermarket which everyone in the community goes to for all their groceries.
My community mainly consist of Hispanic ethnic group and minority groups. Immigrants are a big part of the population in this community.
My community is in East Elmhurst close by LaGuardia airport therefore, it can be very noisy as the planes are going by. Most of the residents in the community go to work in the city since the community does not have much job opportunities. The cost of houses in the community has drastically increased causing rent and property tax to be very high. Residents in the community have been forced to relocate which means that not a lot of people can afford to live in the community for as long as they want.
My community needs be to developed and improved. The schools and libraries should be improved by upgrading the building and devices. There should be some new open spaces and recreational activities/facilities added to the community.
