Community Information

They gather and socialize in parks, churches, community centers, etc. They go to the local health center, banks, grocery stores, bodegas, the community is heavily reliant on public transportation (the #23, 22 buses and the Red line and Fairmount line), etc

Music, food, religion, family values, community celebrations (e.g., Kite Festival, Carribean Festival, etc), shared experiences based on race and language, as a collective, as well as by specific subpopulations/groups.

35% of residents were employed downtown in service-type jobs (pre-pandemic). Environmental concerns include lots of brownfield (toxic/polluted) sites in our community due to past uses of the properties/buildings/businesses that were sited on them. There is the Neponset River on the periphery of the community. It is one of the hottest communities in Boston, with the urban heat island effect prevalent due to the density of the buildings/community and the lack of pervious surfaces
