  - How and where does your community access services (healthcare, transportation, educational services, etc.)?

Examples of activities and services: Shopping areas, schools and universities, libraries, parks, lakes, rivers, places of worship, healthcare services, public transport, local nonprofit organizations, etc.

Your response: A lot of people gather in downtown Columbus. Also, Peachtree Mall is still an important gathering spot. Ft. Benning, a military installation, is an important presence in the area. Columbus State University is a local, significant educational institution. The hospitals (a lot of healthcare) are located in the center of Columbus.

Examples of cultural or historical interests: Religious groups, ethnic groups, languages, age groups, immigration status, historic or arts districts, etc.

Your response: Ft. Benning is a huge part of the local community. Not only do a lot of active military live in Columbus, but also quite a bit of retired military too. Downtown Columbus has a lot of historic attractions.

  - If there are environmental concerns in your community, what are they?

Examples of economic or environmental interests: Tourism industry, agricultural workers, mining town, manufacturing center, polluted natural resource, unemployment problem, etc.

Your response: Aflac and Total Systems are both significant employers in the area. They have corporate headquarters in Columbus. Ft. Benning and local healthcare are also large employers in the area. The Chattahoochee River is the drinking water source for the city as well as big draw for tourism and recreation.

  - What are the needs of your community?

Examples of needs or concerns: Keep community in the same district or separate into multiple districts, shared policy concerns, need for a social service, relationship to other nearby communities, issues with current district lines

Your response: Crime and education are significant local concerns. A lot of people from the surrounding counties come to Columbus for services including healthcare and banking.
