My rural community is made up of people who have lived here a very long time. Presently, we have a mixture of young and elderly residents. The local various churches are the focal points of many families that are both established here, moved back to the area, or those who are new to the area. For shopping, healthcare and other needs, residents travel either to Statesboro or Sylvania that are the closest local cities.
Presently cultural and historical interests are limited. We are in the process of creating both. This goal has a lot to do with why we do not want our districts divided. We need leaders who have our interest at heart. We are small but there is so much to be gained from us staying together and working from within. We do not want the Redistricting process to draw unfair lines in our community.
My community is lacking in resources that address the needs of both the elderly and the young. For all services that would address those needs, residents are required to travel a great distance to get to them.
My community would greatly benefit from the creation of an enrichment center that will provide services to address the needs of the seniors and young residents alike. We also need better access to healthcare service resources.
