Columbus serves as the epicenter of my community. Though there are smaller "urban" centers in the surrounding area such as Albany, LaGrange, etc, but Columbus is the biggest, and folks from these areas come to Columbus when they need larger things. The community stretches from southern Meriwether and Troupe counties down to the FL border.
My community is made up of rural, exurban, suburban, and urban areas. Much of the black belt is in the southwest GA area.
Pollution in the Chattahoochee is a major area, and since farming is a major portion of the economy, climate change looms large over the area. Mining operations are another major source of conflict in the community (such as Meriwether county)
We hope that are area can be grouped together to preserve our voting power. Much of the population is aging, and much of it outside of the major urban centers such as Macon and Columbus are losing population.
