Folks in this community all come to Midland for the Midland Center for the Arts, and to Saginaw for the Dow Center. We all utilize the children's museums in Mt. Pleasant and Saginaw. The Saginaw Spirit and Great Lakes Loons gear are visible all over our community. Everyone in this area is familiar with the local Bay City eateries and events, Saginaw restaurants, as well as Mt. Pleasant and Midland breweries.
Economic or Environmental Interests
I moved to Midland from Mt. Pleasant in 2017, after it became clear to me that many, many employees of CMU lived in Midland and appreciated living separately from their students, among other benefits. There are a number of local carpools and shared rides. After I moved to Midland, it also became clear to me that many, many Dow employees live in Saginaw and Bay City (as well as Midland, Auburn, Sanford, of course, and to a lesser degree Oil City, small M20 communities, and Mt. Pleasant).
Community Needs and Concerns
There is no one who lives in Bay City, Saginaw, Midland, Mt. Pleasant, or the small communities in between that aren't aware of the amenities in the other listed locales. Speaking from experience, we've driven to shop in stores that are unique in each, and run into neighbors and friends from cities besides our own.

Social Services are available but limited. Most professional staff members do not live in City and have limited involvement in community-sponsored activities.
Economic or Environmental Interests
My community has a very limited shared economy. Most of our residents earn minimal wages and work outside the city limits. A high percentage of community members rely on SSI and SSD incomes. Pontiac as the County seat has few facilities with the boundaries of the City and the majority of those workers are not equal contributors to the tax base and are not residents. Environmental concerns; lack of upkeep of waterways, parks, blight, high air pollution, and abandoned commercial property.
Community Needs and Concerns
A large segment of the Community is concern about the lack of political representation and representation. The current political boundaries are gerrymandered to limit political involvement and representation based on race and economics.

Cultural or Historical Interests
Mostly friendly people and families. We need more events in the summer, we once had Arts, Beats and Eats. Our library children department is good, but needs upgrading for the teens and adults. Many churches reached out before Covid 19. Pontiac has poor , working class , and middle class people trying to survive day to day. We just want a good city without crime and drugs, and trouble. (Limit the problems ) We have all races here.
Community Activities and Services
The seniors have two community centers..both now closed to Covid 19. We have a very nice park Beaudette park AKA Mill Dam. The other parks are smaller or have to come up to par in repair. We have several community service agencies here. Our County helps us now, more than in the past. We need more tutoring centers and activities for the children and teens. Needs major Grocery stores, we used to have them but they moved when General Motors departed. Schools need help in academic area.
Economic or Environmental Interests
No, shared economy here. We, in Pontiac, MI..need large corporations to come in. We once had a good economy with General Motors, but they scaled down to Engineering only and that skill does not match the majority who live here. Pontiac, MI is a city by itself. Our water is now with the county since Emergency Management. They are trying to fix the quality of taste and a bad sewer smell near MLK Blvd. Sometimes contractors , landlords or plain people dump trash and furniture.
Community Needs and Concerns
Put Martin Luther King between Perry and Featherstone back into District 6. It was too confusing for the people who live there when they placed it in District 7 Put Court St in Precinct 16, it used to be Precinct 24. Stop the confusion. I do not want Marijuana grower, and processor near my home. I think the Glenwood plaza should be a Grocery store and restaurants, minor repair places. Keep my area the way it is it nice.

Very diverse community - socio economic, religious, race etc. That is a strength of our community. Activities in our parks (pre covid 19) such as concerts in the park, youth sleepovers and other events. Dancing for young people outside in Downtown Farmington one night a week.
Community Activities and Services
Combined Farmington Hills and Farmington share school system. There is a downtown area in Farmington that is shared - by some and is gaining momentum through farmers market, community concerts, skate park etc.. There is also a community center at the Costick Center in north Farmington. And a sports complex at Founders Park enjoyed primarily by youth sports. However, the community - other than through schools - does not seem to have a single central gathering place.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Shared economic interests are shared with southeast michigan. People that live in our community work west as far as Ann Arbor and east as far as Detroit, plus both north and south. Shared economic interest is more in line with property tax revenues as opposed to jobs.
Community Needs and Concerns
Continuing to foster a diverse community. Farmington / Farmington Hills is what i would view as our community.

Danger: REPORT June 29, 2020
Cultural or Historical Interests
Waterford values its water recreation highly. Over 11% of the township is comprised of lakes. Lake associations are the primary community hubs. Waterford shares a border with Keego Harbor and Sylvan Lake and our economies are related. We also share a border with Pontiac.
Community Activities and Services
Water, Police and Fire Services are provided by the township. Trash is not covered and paid for privately, though there is one company contracted to serve the whole township. Major social centers are area parks and lakes, lake associations, and the two high schools, Waterford Mott and Waterford Kettering. Oakland Community College-Highland Lakes campus also provides some social opportunities.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Waterford is in the center of Oakland County. There are 34 lakes in the township, so water quality is a big issue. The majority of the population is employed in health care or the automotive industry.
Community Needs and Concerns
Demographics are shifting to include more people of color, although the population total numbers are very stable over the last 20 years. It is important that the concerns of people of color (about 17% of the total) are addressed by their district, while still adhering to the Voting Rights Act.

Economic or Environmental Interests
The City of Ann Arbor where we live revolves around a large university and major hospitals/health system, plus technology businesses. Water quality is a concern because of the Gelman Plume, a toxic plume in our groundwater from the 1990s
Community Needs and Concerns
The city pushes for more urbanization in town with countless luxury high-rises built for our thousands of affluent students while homeowners don't always want that. Everyone says they want "affordable housing" in Ann Arbor but there is no good way to get it and almost everything that has been built in the last 10 years is market rate/high. Traffic and parking are huge problems because 80,000 people commute in here per day and it is only a city of 120,000 to begin with.

Each town's local schools provide a major sense of belonging. We are mostly an area of low diversity both in ethnicity and religion (Caucasian, Christian). We value education and support our local fitness facilities. We also work to support our local economies.
Community Activities and Services
Our small towns each have vibrant central "downtown" areas, we have access to many town, county, and state parks and recreation areas, including a portion of the "Border to Border" trail and the Huron and Raisin Rivers. 3 out of the 4 towns have supermarkets. Chelsea has a hospital which is affiliated with the 2 large hospitals in Ann Arbor. Chelsea and Dexter each have successful community theaters. We do go to Ann Arbor frequently to obtain services and recreation not available at home.
Economic or Environmental Interests
