Urban Planning - Fall 2021
Danger: REPORT Oct. 22, 2021
Population: 625
transportation housing diversity education environment
Cultural or Historical Interests
There are many ethnic communities that contribute to more diversity in schools and businesses. My area is on the border of Aurora and Centennial so there is a wide variety of restaurants and cultural experiences.
Community Activities and Services
My community goes to the Cherry Creek School District No. 5, as it is one of the best in the state and draws in many newcomers. There are a few close shopping centers such as Arapahoe Crossings.
Economic or Environmental Interests
I live on a park, Sagebrush Park, which attracts lots of neighbors, school sports, and group activities. Smoky Hill's Cross Country runs around the park and there is a group that plays volleyball once or twice a month. There is also a pergola that people can rent for business parties or kids' birthday parties. A majority of my area is residential but close to the large business areas and industrial areas.
Community Needs and Concerns
Because we are on the border of Aurora and Centennial, there is open enrollment in schools across the district so it allows for schools of choice and contributes to diversity.

Immediate Northwest Denver Community
Urban Planning - Fall 2021
Danger: REPORT Oct. 16, 2021
Population: 3532
housing diversity environment air quality affordable
Cultural or Historical Interests
My community in the Sunnyside area of northwest Denver is made up of the Eurochristian ethnic group. The languages spoken in this area are English and Spanish. 62% of the population in Sunnyside is between the ages of 18 and 65.
Community Activities and Services
My community is made up of college students who attend CU Denver, CCD, MSU Denver, Mines, and a handful of other colleges. Down Park Avenue, my community gathers at Rockies games and Larimer Street bars. Closer to my front door, people in my community visit the Van Gough Exhibit. The lightrail is maybe a mile from my front door as well as a few parks tucked away in the neighborhoods down 38th St.
Economic or Environmental Interests
My community is located near the greater Denver area. According to datausa, "The largest industries in Denver, CO are Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (61,226 people), Health Care & Social Assistance (55,678 people), and Educational Services (39,248 people), and the highest paying industries are Mining, Quarrying, & Oil & Gas Extraction ($120,935), Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing & Hunting, & Mining ($100,905), and Utilities ($75,866)." Due to COVID, there is an unemployment predicament occurring statewide. The Van Gough Exhibit attracts a lot of tourists that do not belong to my community. My community's close proximity to the viaduct causes air quality problems.
Community Needs and Concerns
The viaduct harms communities on both sides of I-25 so I would suggest these communities are gathered in the same lines. My community's greatest need is healthier air quality. My immediate community values tourism over the original inhabitants of the community. Thus, I believe that funding shall be focused on the enrichment of already existing communities rather than projected tourists. There is also hemorrhaging of housing available in the Denver area. Denver also suffers from low air quality due to wildfires.

Economic or Environmental Interests
My community is located in North Denver, near the platte river. Mostly residential and restaurants. A good neighborhood for people visiting the city to check out.
Community Needs and Concerns
The community desperately needs new building codes and policies. Real estate developers have moved in building giant properties encroaching on the historical land.

Urban Planning - Fall 2021
Danger: REPORT Oct. 16, 2021
Population: 4966
housing crime elderly environment suburban
Economic or Environmental Interests
There is a small creek that runs through my community, called the Goldsmith Gulch. The man-made Highline Canal also runs through my neighborhood and acts as a geographic boundary to my neighborhood. Both of them feature bike paths, add to the community's aesthetic appeal, and are ecological enclaves of the city that host wildlife. The problem is that neither of them are as clean as they could be. It would be nice if there were harsher restrictions on littering around the creek and canal, or at least more trash collectors to maintain the area's sanity.
Community Needs and Concerns
Because of all the growth and development going on in Denver, my community wants to preserve itself and not become yet another redeveloped neighborhood. Politicians in the city should know that our community comprises of suburban homeowners, not renters, and is to remain as such. Construction equipment is unwelcome in this area except in the case of repairs to homes and streets. It would be much appreciated if my community could be kept in the same district and that those district lines clearly indicate that the area is off limits to development.

Most of the residents are employed within the city at the many offered food services, construction jobs, businesses, and Uber or Lyft oppportunies as well as much more. The environmental concerns within my community is the air quality, the garbage in certain areas within the downtown or along the sidewalk, and also the light pollution
Community Needs and Concerns
My community needs access to natural resources such a food and water supplies, residential housing, education services, and places for employment. My community is very diverse, it is majority a liberal community and it is home to many sports teams.

Danger: REPORT Oct. 14, 2021
Population: 4757

Cultural or Historical Interests
My community is basically on the edge of Thornton we lie pretty close to Westminster. Unfortunately, there really isn’t any historic background back in the 00's there really wasn’t anything in that area besides plain fields. The community is very diverse with religious and ethnic groups.
Community Activities and Services
My community is centered around Hunters Glen Park/Lake, which serves as an important communal resource. It is the location of community garage sales, fishing contests, and community breakfast gatherings. it also consists of basketball courts, tennis courts, swimming pool, playgrounds, and a volleyball court. Century Middle School, Hunters Glen Elementary School, and a small part of Mountain Range High School are in my community as well. The city's upkeep and development of which affects the area. We also have The Denver Premium Outlets within the community for any shopping needs.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Since the community is growing really fast with vast number of attractions like not too far lies top golf, the summit, the orchard mall, more grocery stores, the Denver Premium Outlets are planning on expanding, In-N-Out burger, and the list goes on. Which means the community is impacted by rising costs of living, and that threatens to push many residents out or make dwelling here more economical challenging.
Community Needs and Concerns
Besides the cost of living, I am not sure what my community concerns are.

Economic or Environmental Interests
The majority of adult residents in my community are employed. Around half work in further areas such as Downtown Denver and Castle Rock, while the other half have local jobs within 5 miles of Parker. My community needs to start investing in more renewable energy sources.

Cultural or Historical Interests
Capitol hill is known to be the most densely populated area of the city. It is culturally known for being the LGBT center of the city and housing many artists and bohemians.
Community Activities and Services
My community is the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. Many in the neighborhood gather at Cheesman Park to relax, enjoy recreation, spend time with others, play sports, and exercise. Despite being a major downtown neighborhood Capitol Hill has limited access to services such as healthcare, transportation, and education
Economic or Environmental Interests
The neighborhood contains a large section of Colfax Boulevard. The area is known to be a haven for crime and a lot of poverty exists in the area.
Community Needs and Concerns
The neighborhood faces a huge issue of homelessness. The city needs to do a better job at addressing the issue instead of sweeping the issue under the rug and pretending it doesn't exist. Another issue is due to the density it can be hard to find parking. This causes many in the area to go car-free, transit must be improved for these individuals.

Community Activities and Services
My community is a collections of older members, mixed with the new, younger group. The city of Arvada is an old mining town that has now been modernized by the use of the light rail, with an eager small business population and attractions.
Economic or Environmental Interests
The majority of the community is employed outside of the city, meaning that transportation is a large concern. Although the light rail is utilized, most members rely on a personal vehicle for transportation.
Community Needs and Concerns
My city is rapidly growing, accompanied by a large influx of new members, therefore there needs the be a major focus placed on those who were living in the city prior to the boom. There is a large homeless population in Arvada that needs better support.
