Cultural or Historical Interests
My community is made up of the AAPI population such as Filipinos, Koreans, Vietnamese, and Chinese, and many others. Since there are a lot of Asian churches and businesses in this area lots of Asian families live here as well.
Community Activities and Services
My community is made up of people who live and hold activities near the Dobson Road corridor in West Mesa. This corridor holds lots of events for the Asian American community including the International Food Festival and other Asian food gatherings. Additionally, there are also several Asian small businesses that are concentrated in this area. For example, we have asian markets such as Mekong, H-mart, and many others.
Economic or Environmental Interests
The Asian Chamber of Commerce has a strong presence here. Along this two mile stretch on Dobson road you can find over 70 asian restaurants, family owned small businesses, and retailers centered around the AAPI community.
Community Needs and Concerns
The AAPI community is centered in West Mesa. I'm hoping you can preserve the Dobson Road Corridor currently known as the Fiesta bowl district. It is also known among many as the Asian district of Maricopa County, please keep the area in one Congressional District and in one Legislative District to keep it whole.
