My community is historically middle class. More white than other races but accepting of different backgrounds and financial backgrounds than our bookend neighbors to the north (park hill) and south (crestmoor, hilltop).
Community Activities and Services
My community is a proud mix of homeowners and renters. We have single family homes and apartment complexes. We have older folks and a newer contingent of families with children. We also have the new 9CO development which drawers younger, less attached folks and older, freer couples. We enjoy the fairly urban lifestyle that places like Colfax Ave and Colorado Blvd provide and being and able to walk and bike many places around the city while still having a little separation from the hustle and bustle. Shopping is available along those major corridors as well as a few neighborhood commercial areas on each end of the neighborhood. We like our local parks (like Lindsley) and city park.
Economic or Environmental Interests
A major flood corridor goes through our neighborhood, so dealing with that through the ongoing P2P projects are important.

Define Your Denver
Dec. 10, 2021
Population: 3205
transportation housing diversity
Cultural or Historical Interests
The neighborhood is historically made up of mostly Hispanic and Latino/a residents, although this number is sadly decreasing due to gentrification and the rapid redevelopment of the neighborhood (slot homes to the south of Jefferson Park, apartments and renovations to the north). The strong ties to the Hispanic and Latino community is a benefit to the community and a number of businesses and environments have Spanish speaking residents and workers. New primarily white residents buying/renting property in the area are typically young (20s and 30s) while Hispanic and Latino residents tend to be older (age 40+) with families or long-time residents.
Community Activities and Services
My community spends a lot of time outdoors at the parks in the neighborhood, including Jefferson Park, Highland Park, and Viking Park, and on weekends in the fall the neighborhood fills with Broncos fans there for the nearby stadium. The neighborhood hosts one of the few grocery stores in the area so the Safeway is a central point of activity and a great place to access groceries, supplies, and medications. Transportation services are close by on Federal Blvd., which is where most transit riders access these services and nearby North High School and Valdez Elementary host lots of the area's students.
Economic or Environmental Interests
My community is near the Platte River (and river trail), I-25, the Broncos Stadium and Downtown Denver. There is some commercial activity within the community but the proximity to nearby commercial areas in other neighborhoods and easy access to I-25 and Downtown seems to be a big draw for new residents who work or spend time outside of the community.
Community Needs and Concerns
The community is changing and much of its history (i.e., the Chicano Rights Movement) and its residents are being edged out by new upscale development and an influx of young, affluent residents. The community needs representation that will balance the changes with historic residents' interests to help ensure that there is an opportunity and cultural basis for Hispanic and Latino as well as low- to moderate-income families and residents to stay in place. The community Map drawers should also know that residents north of W 26th Ave encompass many different socio-economic and demographic backgrounds and this part of the community feels noticeably different/separate from areas south of 26th

Community Activities and Services

We also enjoy ReZened to find fun recycled clothing options.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Economically we need to walk the fine line of keeping the neighborhood vibrant with employment opportunities, cultural opportunities, better education options (too many kids leave the neighborhood for school) and the line of giving back to those less fortunate.
Community Needs and Concerns
Lack of Commercial options for the mom and pop venues, grocery options, schools that are not ranked the lowest in DPS--and to be clear--new structures do not make better schools. Involved parents and educators make better schools.

Cultural or Historical Interests
Basically there are no cultural or historical interest that I am aware of in GVR. However, in close proximity you will find the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center, DIA and the Panasonic Enterprise Solution . GVR is a very diverse community in all aspects of life. Most of the residents actually work outside the area. The Golf course, DIA and the Gaylord contributes to tourism in the area. The environmental interest are basically the same as for everywhere else (global warming, climate change, over population, water and air pollution, and waste disposal.
Community Activities and Services
In the Green Valley Ranch (GVR) Community to socialize we go to the following places: 1. GVR Recreation Center to exercise, play cards and Scrabble, Farmer"s Market, free outdoor concerts and outdoor movies, and community meetings 2. Golf Course..Play golf. Eberts for the Autumn Festival, Enclave for swimming, Fireworks display 3. Denver School of Science and Technology (DSST) of Denver Public Schools for community meetings 4. GVR East Park on Jebel
Economic or Environmental Interests
Services are accessed from: GVR Library, shopping area surrounding King Sooper, SCl Health, UCHealth Primary Care,GVR Medical Urgent Care,Verizon , and Family health care. Unless you have a car or utilize Uber,Lyft or someone to to take you Transportation is poor. Community Needs and Concerns
This Community needs it own post office, one that is located in the 80249 zip code. This community needs a full service public (non-medical) Senior Citizens Center like a hub that is open 7 days a week with games, music, the arts, a coffee shop and etc. This community needs some social places that youth can go to have fun and socialize. Cultural or Historical Interests
Montbello is 50 + years old. We are a diverse Neighborhood and always have been. However, like many older neighborhoods the historical distinction is not acknowledged or lost. There are no designated historic places in Montbello. The first elementary school, health center, park, and first high school. grocery store, first community event. sports events, meetings, groups and organizations. When and where hosted. A plaque or signs indicating these events and the persons responsible should be celebrated. The Rocky Mountain Arsenal the history of what it was those residents who worked there and what it is now.
Community Activities and Services
Montbello does not have a place to socialize. We use The Montbello Rec Ctr, for most events. The center is not located in Montbello however it is used for community events, meetings, outdoor recreation, movies, etc. We have several parks for gatherings, however not always accessible or safe for those with Disabilities and Seniors. Getting to parks safely is an issue. Traffic, lack of crosswalks, traffic signs, lights, parking. etc. Montbello High School parking lot is used for events, again not always available, safe for all populations, disabled, small children and seniors. Not handicapped accessible. Montbello Library, intended for large events, families, meetings and socializing.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Most residents work outside Montbello. Due to the cost of living. Where there are many fast food jobs they are sufficient to sustain a family. We have environmental concerns in Montbello. Noise, Air, Overcrowding, Trash, diesel, commercial trucks, trailers, water quality, etc.
Community Needs and Concerns
Montbello needs a full service grocery store, a costco, traditional high school, A full service Health Facility to accommodate the Montbello Neighborhood, Road Improvements, Side walks, Safe Walking accessibility for all. This community is mostly white and includes a large Jewish American population, particularly in it's more affluent, suburban northern and eastern quadrants. The western portion of the neighborhood is occupied by high-density rental units that are home to lower-income residents and has a significant Black and Latin American population.
Community Activities and Services
Virginia Village includes Ellis Elementary School, Montessori School of Denver, Virginia Village Branch Library, Cook Park Recreation Center, Light of the Nations Church, Denver Christian Bible Church, Salem United Church of Christ, Holly Street Church of Christ, Potter's House Christian Center, Cook Park, and Ash Grove Park. It's main streets include South Colorado Boulevard, South Holly Street, South Monaco Street, South Quebec Street, East Florida Avenue, and East Evans Avenue. It is anchored by the Virginia Village Square stores on South Holly and East Florida. Interstate 25 runs nearby and is easily accessible via Evans and Colorado.
Economic or Environmental Interests
The northern bord or of Virginia Village is marked by the Cherry Creek River and bicycle trail. This trail provides residents with access to the natural environment but is prone to flooding at certain times of the year. There are convenient stores and gas stations, barber shops and hair salons, restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a few retail stores in the neighborhood that may employ some residents, but I suspect that most residents work outside of the neighborhood, as it is conveniently located near Interstate 25 and the RTD light rail station at Colorado Boulevard.
Community Needs and Concerns
Virginia Village is currently in the 6th CD, but I could see it fitting well within the 10th CD (to the west) or the 5th CD (to the norht). It is probably too large and too urban for the 4th CD (to the south).

This community is rational diverse and thus there are strong bonds within the different nationalities and race. Traditional this community has suffered from a resource deficiency historically. It has in the past attracted many cultures and has grown however without the normal commercial development required for a diverse community. We have struggled to get the attention from city leaders and civilian developers, the ladder seemingly show interest in gentrifying our homes.
Community Activities and Services
Within the community there various parks such as Montbello Central, Montbello Rec Center. Transportation is improving, however, education is within the community but many travel outside for schooling. Definitely travel outside of community for medical needs. There several religious venues for the community members to use. There are auxiliary community services such as the Girls and Boys Club and the youth football programs in the parks. No major water venues in Montbello such as lakes or rivers or streams.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Those working outside of the home seek employment outside of our community even outside of our city. There is also a large amount of home business such as auto repair, landscaping, small gardening of food and in some cases live stock. Within the community few employment opportunities create the need to leave the community for jobs that are few within the community.
Community Needs and Concerns
Keep all community members in the same district or create two distinct ones called Montbello and Green Valley Ranch separate into two similar districts, with similar shared policy concerns, need for a social service, relationship to other nearby communities, issues with current district lines. All of these are on point in highlighting areas of concern and improvement. We need policing that has skin in the game. Meaning not leaving this community at the end of their shifts. The same for the fire department personnel. These are key fixtures in our community and they should share in the success or failure as major stakeholders here.

Economic or Environmental Interests
East Colfax has a significant population (27%) that is living below the poverty line. This is significantly higher than other neighborhoods in Denver.By splitting our neighborhood into Two City Council Districts with more power and privilege with Central Park and Park Hill on the North (District 8) and Montclair, Lowry, and Hilltop on the South (District 5), we are putting an already disadvantaged community in competition with neighborhoods with extremely different interests and needs. This is setting East Colfax up for failure. The City should be investing in giving East Colfax all the support it needs to be a unified voice advocating for the resources we need.
Community Needs and Concerns
East Colfax 78 out of 78 on the Equity Scale in the City of Denver and therefore East Colfax needs to be united into one City Council District as the issues facing our neighborhood require specific leadership and advocacy. This is significantly higher than other neighborhoods in Denver. ● By splitting our neighborhood into Two City Council Districts with more power and privilege with Central Park and Park Hill on the North (District 8) and Montclair, Lowry, and Hilltop on the South (District 5), we are putting an already disadvantaged community in competition with neighborhoods with extremely different interests and needs. ● This is setting East Colfax up for failure. The City should be investing in giving East Colfax all the support it needs to be a unified voice advocating for the resources we need

Community Activities and Services
My community is made up of college students who attend CU Denver, CCD, MSU Denver, Mines, and a handful of other colleges. Down Park Avenue, my community gathers at Rockies games and Larimer Street bars. Closer to my front door, people in my community visit the Van Gough Exhibit. The lightrail is maybe a mile from my front door as well as a few parks tucked away in the neighborhoods down 38th St.
Economic or Environmental Interests
My community is located near the greater Denver area. According to datausa, "The largest industries in Denver, CO are Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (61,226 people), Health Care & Social Assistance (55,678 people), and Educational Services (39,248 people), and the highest paying industries are Mining, Quarrying, & Oil & Gas Extraction ($120,935), Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing & Hunting, & Mining ($100,905), and Utilities ($75,866)." Due to COVID, there is an unemployment predicament occurring statewide. The Van Gough Exhibit attracts a lot of tourists that do not belong to my community. My community's close proximity to the viaduct causes air quality problems.
Community Needs and Concerns
The viaduct harms communities on both sides of I-25 so I would suggest these communities are gathered in the same lines. My community's greatest need is healthier air quality. My immediate community values tourism over the original inhabitants of the community. Thus, I believe that funding shall be focused on the enrichment of already existing communities rather than projected tourists. There is also hemorrhaging of housing available in the Denver area. Denver also suffers from low air quality due to wildfires.

There is a small creek that runs through my community, called the Goldsmith Gulch. The man-made Highline Canal also runs through my neighborhood and acts as a geographic boundary to my neighborhood. Both of them feature bike paths, add to the community's aesthetic appeal, and are ecological enclaves of the city that host wildlife. The problem is that neither of them are as clean as they could be. It would be nice if there were harsher restrictions on littering around the creek and canal, or at least more trash collectors to maintain the area's sanity.
Community Needs and Concerns
Because of all the growth and development going on in Denver, my community wants to preserve itself and not become yet another redeveloped neighborhood. Politicians in the city should know that our community comprises of suburban homeowners, not renters, and is to remain as such. Construction equipment is unwelcome in this area except in the case of repairs to homes and streets. It would be much appreciated if my community could be kept in the same district and that those district lines clearly indicate that the area is off limits to development.

My community is based on the bones of the original city, with the new city building upon the preexisting infrastructure.
Community Activities and Services
My community is a collections of older members, mixed with the new, younger group. The city of Arvada is an old mining town that has now been modernized by the use of the light rail, with an eager small business population and attractions.
Economic or Environmental Interests
The majority of the community is employed outside of the city, meaning that transportation is a large concern. Although the light rail is utilized, most members rely on a personal vehicle for transportation.
Community Needs and Concerns
My city is rapidly growing, accompanied by a large influx of new members, therefore there needs the be a major focus placed on those who were living in the city prior to the boom. There is a large homeless population in Arvada that needs better support.

Gentrification, however, has now occurred with the influx of a more affluent white population. Gone are Mexican cantinas and most of the still existing Italian mom & pop restaurants, all now replaced by upscale trattorias, sushi, or other international eating fare.Today's immediate neighborhood is bounded by I-25 to the east, Federal Blvd to the west, 38th Ave to the north, and 26th Ave to the south.

My community is primarily comprised of generational residents based on the industry that demanded many workers many years ago. Many of the neighborhoods that make up the larger community have historically been red-lined.
Community Activities and Services
Schools, parks, access to the river and public transport. Also access to employment.
Economic or Environmental Interests
My community is located in a current and historically industrial area, with many major highways and transit corridors running through. Access to health services, healthy living conditions and accountability for corporations polluting in our community. Generational impacts to health and wellbeing are no longer acceptable in my community's eyes.
Community Needs and Concerns
We need access to affordable housing to stay close to jobs. We need access to fresh food and local eateries to support local business. We need connectivity to other parts of the city, better sidewalks, better bike lanes, better transit, better lighting. We need rezoning to consider the voice of the community.

We have an extremely diverse eclectic community but since there is no place families can gather and not efficient shade nobody comes out of there house.
Community Activities and Services
We do not have representation out here in GVR. We get the leftovers of whatever budget district 11 has because stacies focus is on montbello which is her community and she advocates for her own. We have plenty of schools and libraries healthcare is coming but as fare as shopping places of worship, places to gather we just don't have enough of because nobody is advocating for efficiently for our needs.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Underrepresented we have no police station which is very badly needed , we only have one community policing officer , our parks trees are always failing so we don't have sufficient shading at our play areas or enough shaded seating. We are getting a large edition to the rec center BUT IT IS NOT ACCSESSABLE for all in green valley such as parents with small children . There are no places for them to gather and splash . Central Park and Aurora have both gotten the picture on parks gathering places and water features . Our representation has failed here .
Community Needs and Concerns
We feel underrepresented . There is no accsess to someone local to voice GREEN VALLEY RANCHES concerns . We need a police station more stop signs speed bumps and crossing guards , we need accsess to water fetuses in naborhoodds so people can ACTUALLY GET OUT AND SAFLEY get to know our community. We are all so tierd of being underrepresented and getting leftovers of district 11 budget we need our own seat!! .

Denver City Council
Define Your Denver
Sept. 27, 2021
Population: 30191
Cultural or Historical Interests
The community, GVR, is lacking positive support for teens. There are no (or few?) teen specific establishments that support positive influences for teens. The Rec Center may be an option, but it is not open on weekends. No outlet for teens. Absolutely no historic, art or cultural interests that I know of.
Community Activities and Services
My community, Green Valley Ranch, is one of the fastest growing in the Denver Metro Area. The community is lacking health and wellness services (1 small gym and 1 small rec center), access to major grocery store(s) (only 1 small King Soopers, 1 small Natural Grocer), access to shopping areas (no major retail) and healthy dining choices (mostly fast food). Sprouts is slated to open later this year as well as Costco, which requires a membership. This community needs a bigger major grocery store, like another King Soopers or Safeway, to service the area. The current KS cannot handle the existing population.

Cultural or Historical Interests
Preserving the political power of the latino/a population in west Denver is critical as the city looks at ways to grow housing and slow down gentrification. Particularly in southwest Denver which regularly gets cracked into multiple districts and right now is divided into 3 different districts. Southwest Denver has yet to experience the scale of gentrification the westside north of 6th Ave. has, but that could change drastically this next decade if the city does not act aggressively.
Community Activities and Services
I would like to see a map that considers keeping the considerable LGBT population in Capitol Hill and North Capitol Hill/Uptown in one district. Downtown Denver is home to a substantial LGBT population and our communities smaller numbers elsewhere in the city and state means there are no political districts at any level currently in which we can vote as a larger community of interest.

Eastern West Colfax
Sept. 23, 2021
Population: 13491
roads transportation housing homelessness unaffordable
Cultural or Historical Interests
Many of the members of my community here are new residents - either transplants from other neighborhoods or other cities. As Denver's housing supply stagnates and its population grows, we are nearly all persons who couldn't afford to live in our old neighborhoods and moved to this neighborhood where rents and mortgages were less expensive. Many are seeking a new community to be a part of, but as we are transplants, we are not always seen as a welcome arrival.
Community Activities and Services
We often gather in Sloan's Lake Park. We don't have a traditional commercial corridor that is safe to walk on, so there is not another clear public gathering space. To some extent, the St. Anthony's redevelopment provides this opportunity, but many commercial spaces in the development remain empty or are parking lots/roads without gathering space. More often, I find that our neighbors travel up to the Highlands (32nd street). In mornings, people collect along Colfax avenue at various bus stops, and some gather at the Knox St light rail station. In days and evenings, many visit the local library (Corky). Lake Middle School is a defining neighborhood feature. Brew Culture is a highlight.
Economic or Environmental Interests
We have a severe issue with road safety, air pollution, and noise. The Colfax state highway next to us is one of the highest death and injury roads in the city due to its poor design. Everyone speeds, street racers visit. The air pollution and noise this causes disrupts our lives and makes the road a place to avoid, although it is supposed to be our commercial corridor. It acts as a strong divider between the north and south side of Colfax. Given the unsafe crossings, we rarely travel south of the road unless heading to Paco Sanchez, the library, or the light rail station. This means we rarely meet neighbors whose homes we can see from our front porch.
Community Needs and Concerns
The eastern side of West Colfax seems to be shifting to be more alike to the Highlands and Jefferson Park communities. We rarely meet anyone in West Colfax. We don't have a safe way to travel by foot and bike to places on the south side of Colfax, including nearby Sun Valley, Villa Park, etc., so again we rarely meet anyone there. Development of new housing has been faster here than in many other neighborhoods in the city, but it can't keep up with demand for housing. I wish we had more neighbors and a walkable grocery store.

English is the dominant language. Most of the homes were built in the 1950s and 1960s. We have some historic homes.
Community Activities and Services
My community comprises families with young children and middle-aged and elderly that have lived in the neighborhood for decades. We have a small shopping center, box retail, two multiplex movie theaters, an elementary school, a public park, and designated open spaces. We are near a major regional hospital, St. Anthony's, and have various medical specialists within a short distance. We have an office park. We are close to the Federal Center, where many people in the neighborhood work. We have numerous restaurants and grocery stores. We are close to public transportation, both bus, and light rail. Economic or Environmental Interests
My community has a great deal of shopping, restaurants, medical and business offices. We are on a major US Highway. We have designated public open space, which is a priority for the area.
Community Needs and Concerns
The community has a lack of ethnic and racial diversity. It has an aging population that increasingly cannot afford to age in place. We have a lack of rental options. Housing is costly. We have few eldercare services, particularly transportation. The current district boundaries are fine. We have a good relationship with our representatives. Aug. 28, 2021
Cultural or Historical Interests
Golden has been in existence longer than the state of Colorado. While it is largely a bedroom community for Denver, it is a self-contained small city that is geographically separated from the surrounding suburban sprawl. Further it has its own local economy in the form of a thriving downtown, local recreation, the Coors brewery, Coorstek, nearby NREL, and the Colorado School of Mines.
Community Activities and Services
My community is the City of Golden. People there are united by activities in our small but vibrant downtown core.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Recreation in both the surrounding mountains and on the local creek are major contributors to the local economy, so climate change, which threatens the usability of these resources is a major concern. Additionally, there is a chronic shortage of affordable housing, not just for low income people, but middle income people as well.
Community Needs and Concerns
Golden is a special, unique community and should not be split up into multiple districts. Doing so would silence the community's voice.

Economic or Environmental Interests
My community is located near a creek, with easy access to/from my neighborhood. It is important to us to keep it clean and safe for everyone near that creek and trail that runs by it. Nowadays the only people moving in are richer white people, it seems.
Community Needs and Concerns
My community has a significant amount of apartments/multi-family homes nearby, but this seems to be mostly in Glendale, rather than Denver. [It makes no sense to me that a separate city exists within my city (Denver.) We should all be one.] In any case, I have noticed that the frequently-used bus stops near these apartments lack seating/shade. It is obviously also important right now that we all keep each other safe from transmitting COVID. I am glad I live in Denver where the mandates about masking are progressive. It has become apparent that when left to their own devices individuals act for themselves, not for the good of the community, which is where government needs to step in.

My community is made up of people who have moved to Lowry for its great location, great local businesses and it’s quality of life. We have great parks, libraries and open space. It’s a great place for people from singles to young families to retirees.
Economic or Environmental Interests
My community believes that keeping our neighborhood an inviting place to live is essential to maintaining our quality of life. We need to balance increasing housing with not increasing population density to the point it wrecks Neighborhood character
Community Needs and Concerns
We need to come up with long term solutions to homelessness, combat the raising crime rate and keep Denver a great place to live.

Need to protect our neighborhoods and stop making decisions that are actually HURTING people who have worked hard to have home ownership in this town, to over tax and do LESS for these people. The taxation levels are getting out of hand to cover iniatives that are NOT in line with the tax payers. Taking away parking in residential areas for "comfort bike lanes," allowing over-crowding in existing homes which creates MORE parking issues for home owners, while also green-lighting new dense apartments & condos with LESS parking at these new developments , in a town that is still a car-reliant community due to the active lifestyles &hobbies people have that require a car to get to. Got to stop

Community Needs and Concerns
Affordable housing is an issue, but housing density and quality also is a concern. One issue I see is that while there has been explosive growth in multi-family housing units, they are almost exclusively apartments. I would like to see more multi-story units that people can own to build equity, and that they be units that 1. are big enough for families and 2. are well-constructed for living with attention paid to things like sound-proofing and garden areas for residents of all ages to enjoy.

My community is made of people who use: the Schlessman library branch in Lowry, the Lowry sports Park, and often dine at Hanger 2 restaurants in Lowry. This community includes all of Lowry and also all types of housing East of Quebec and West of Havana, from Lowry Ave to Colfax Ave.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Much of the area is defined by the Lowry airforce redevelopment after the base closed, people who work in Aurora and Denver outside of downtown, and immigrants from many countries.
Community Needs and Concerns
the beauty of southeast Denver including Lowry and extending up to East Colfax, is the diversity of people and the variety of housing options, and green space. Economic or Environmental Interests
The primary driver of the economy in my community is highly seasonal tourism. While tourism brings prosperity to our towns, it also brings problems regarding how to balance the allure for (wealthy, usually) tourists with the needs of the people who run the towns and resorts.
Community Needs and Concerns
Summit County has a powerful county identity. Moreso than nearly any other county I'm aware of, locals take pride in being from Summit and when asked where they're from, will usually respond with the county rather than the particular town. Economic or Environmental Interests
The area tries to strike a balance between preserving characteristics of the existing built environment, while enabling more density and diversity. A lot of folks are liberal and want to encourage progressive policies around housing and development, but feel conflicted when it's "the house next door". But, generally, we aren't full-Nimby like richer neighborhoods.

The neighborhood where I live includes both the Gulch two blocks south of me and the lake two blocks north. Everyone along Colfax between Sheridan and Meade has a similar sense of their proximity to the Ave, the lake, and the gulch. I move through the neighborhood by either biking along 17th or through the gulch down to the S Platte
Economic or Environmental Interests
It's important that W Colfax Ave is kept together because new businesses, developments, and changes to bussing and transit through the corridor are shared experiences that make Colfax a vibrant place. I walk up and down the Ave to access shops I like, go to movies and restaurants, and catch the bus or get off the bus. If a block of Colfax a dozen blocks away gets revitalized or gets a new business, I would patronize that business too. And the more our part of town grows, the less of a distance I want to travel to go to a quality establishment or business.
Community Needs and Concerns
We need changes to Colfax Ave to make it safer to cross the street, to slow traffic, and to make the bus faster. It's awesome that the bus comes so often, but it takes me 30 minutes by bus to get to my work, versus 15 minutes on a bike and 10-15 minutes in a private vehicle. People in my neighborhood cross Colfax all day every day and in my stretch of the woods it's very unsafe and difficult to do.

i think the progressive creative community, not wealthy but still sometimes gentrifiers, in south-central Denver has integrity; Baker has lost its Latino majority over the last 20 years, but there is still a sense of Latino history and some remembrance of the traditional Westside; Baker became an important LGBTQ enclave in the 80s and 90s; while that community integrates with society much better now, this heritage is still reflected among the residents and businesses in the area
Community Activities and Services
my neighborhood is nominally Baker, but is really the residential core of the statistical neighborhood; south of Alameda is not connected; Broadway is another focus for my community — residents on both sides have a common interest for the vitality and to some extent against the over-commercialization of Broadway
Economic or Environmental Interests
our community is cut off from the Platte River by the highway, the railroad and by the historical expulsion of residents from the west side of Baker in favor of industrial uses; one of the primary economic issues is that rising property values and rents are displacing long-term residents
Community Needs and Concerns
this is a part of the city where a lot of people know each other, and help each other out; crime often comes from people from other neighborhoods seeking "easy prey"; there is a significant unsheltered homeless population in the area, and they are not mostly the ones forming group campsites — they are often solitary, sleeping in alleys, river banks or in vehicles

With the redevelopment of Loretto Heights, for which the neighborhood is named, it makes more sense to have College View represented under one council district, #2, since right now, Federal Blvd. is the dividing line between #2 and #7 and CV will be directly affected by new roadways and other redevelopment pressures from Loretto Heights. Historically, after annexation and partly up through Ted Hackworth's time on council, College View was in City Council District #2. In addition, most CV students attend schools, such as Kunsmiller and Lincoln, that are also in District #2.
Community Activities and Services
College View utilizes libraries and larger shopping centers, such as Bear Valley, that are located in Council District #2. We also shop in Englewood or along Federal Blvd. The neighborhood has more ties to Council District #2 than #7 historically.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Speeding on South Federal has been an issue and pedestrian improvements south of Vassar have yet to be seen. The neighborhood should not be separated from the rest of SW Denver by two council districts (between #2 and #7). The area has more in common with the rest of these annexed areas west of Federal than the older communities of south Denver found east of Broadway.
Community Needs and Concerns
College View continues to need advocates that will keep the area intact and focus on innovative economic opportunities for the working class, such as green house farming, truck farming and growing produce for the rest of the city. There is a lot of empty land that remains open in College View that could once again be converted to farming even though our agricultural water rights and ditches have been removed from their historic connection to Loretto Heights.

My community of College View draws its name from the existence of the former Loretto Heights College that is now under redevelopment. When College View School opened in 1939, the tower of Loretto Heights, built in 1892, was the dominant feature that was viewable from the elementary school--hence College View School. The topography of the neighborhood, which includes sloping hills and high points, meant that until the later 20th century, the Loretto tower was visible from all over College View.
Community Activities and Services
My community still remains partly tied to its once rural agricultural past. With large lots and ample open acreage, the College View community remains a unique appendage of Denver that was annexed to the city in 1962. We are a community set apart in many ways from nearby subdivisions since you can still see farm animals and large active vegetable and farming plots in existence in College View.
Economic or Environmental Interests
The College View boundaries now include the section of Denver that is adjacent to the Platte River. This area was attached to the neighborhood more recently and has no historical connection. However, more recently, the city of Denver and city of Englewood have completed bicycle and pedestrian connections via the Harvard Gulch West Trail that now connects College View (and Scenic View in Englewood) to the Platte River. College View historically was tied more to services in downtown Englewood but with growth of businesses along Federal and Evans, many residents do shop there (such as the King Soopers) and at the Brentwood Center.
Community Needs and Concerns
For College View, I feel that close-in economic development opportunities and incentives are being missed that would tie into the community's historic ties to agriculture and truck farming. With all of the land available in College View being turned into houses that are crammed into existing lots, could a focus on greenhouse gardening and sustainable urban agriculture instead be once again common in this area of Denver?

We gather at Huston Lake Park for outdoor events like yoga and zumba and at the Athmar Park Branch Library for our Athmar Park Community Market. Economic or Environmental Interests
My community is near the South Platte River and Huston Lake. Water quality, invasive species, and air quality are all environmental concerns. There are also some people experiencing homelessness who live in and around the neighborhood, including in mobile situations like RVs. As a result, waste and health/safety are concerns, especially in parks like Aspgren and Huston Lake. Other concerns include speeding vehicles and lack of safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Community Needs and Concerns
Athmar Park is a quickly gentrifying neighborhood with home prices increasing rapidly and many young, white families moving in. It feels important to preserve Athmar's original character, demographic make up, culture and language in the face of gentrification and displacement. At the time time (and perhaps somewhat contradictory to my previous statement), it would be great if Athmar could become better connected to our adjacent neighborhoods like Baker and South Broadway to our east. I know it is tricky with I-25, Santa Fe and other major roads, but having access to those amenities (shops, grocery stores, light rail stations, etc.) would be great, especially via bike and walking.

Community Needs and Concerns
My community cares about history (including current and former Hispanic population) and zoning (including keeping Tennyson from being all impersonal, ugly residential condos and rentals). They also care about community (knowing each other) and culture (including the library). They care about our future (environmental issues, partisanship). They care about racial and income groups having representation on City Council.

Community Activities and Services
Living off Quincy and Wads. My community is all Jeffco related. All the parks we visit are Jeffco parks. All the family activities we participate in are Jeffco. All the libraries we visit are in Jeffco. We have no real tie to The city and county of Denver other than some taxes getting paid. For instance, this survey. I had to remind myself that I am able to fill this out because, technically, I live in Denver. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVe Denver! Born and raised in Fort Collins, Denver was (and still is) my absolutely place to visit.

Southern San Juan Mountains, foothills, ranches, and desert
July 13, 2021
Cultural or Historical Interests
We have white people, and also Latinx and Native American populations, with a very small representation of other POC. Some people own land or ranches that their families have resided on for several generations. Some Utes are on their Native Lands. Some of us moved here more recently. The COVID-19 pandemic is bringing in another influx of people. We are united around a love of the outdoors and around our history as a rural agricultural, mining and railroad town, which both displaced and built on the Utes, Latinx populations and other groups that previously lived in this area and continue to live here.
Community Activities and Services
My community is made up of people who live in or near Durango and Bayfield.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Our community's main areas of employment involve farming and ranching, tourism, the college, the regional hospital, small businesses, and government jobs. The seasonal tourism industry also means there some people who live here seasonally. We also have a growing population of unhoused people as housing prices increase. The COVID-19 pandemic and shifts to online work options is also bringing in more people who may work remotely for employers in other counties or states. The majority of us have an interest in enjoying the beauty of where we live, and of accessing public lands. Fire and drought are increasing dangers and concerns.
Community Needs and Concerns
Our community encompasses diverse cultures and economic needs. We need district lines that maintain the cohesion of our community so that we can unite around common communal interests.

Politicians/map makers should consider that the current district may not represent the people at the core. The northern parts of the district often represent a different economic group with a different status.
